Survey on workplace bullying and harassment to identify the scale of the problem

UNISON News

You are invited to participate in a survey that UNISON is conducting on the scale and extent of workplace bullying and harassment.

UNISON believes that everyone should be treated with dignity and respect at work. Workplace bullying and harassment prevents this happening and should not be tolerated. Bullying and harassment at work has become a major problem in many workplaces making the daily lives of workers intolerable. It leads to ill health, work related stress and can also be the cause of untold misery to workers. This is not just bad for the workforce but is also bad management practice.

To help us identify the extent of the problem UNISON has commissioned Portsmouth University to carry out an online survey on workplace bullying and harassment.

The results will be used to raise the issue with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and other relevant Government Departments, and will also be used to update our existing guidance for safety representatives’ to help them to negotiate policies and action to eliminate bullying and harassment in the workplace.

I can assure you that all personal details will remain confidential.

We are keen to obtain as wide a response as possible and I would be grateful if you would spare the time to complete this survey even if you haven’t been bullied or harassed using the link below.

Members are asked to complete and submit the survey by 1st July 2009 at the latest. The survey can be found at the web link below.
